How to Add Your Company Logo
Adding your company logo to Salesforce allows it to appear in Classic Email Templates that use the Company Logo merge field.
Overview
The Company Logo field is stored in the Company Info Custom Setting. Since this field stores a URL instead of an image file, you'll first upload your logo to Salesforce Files, create a public link, and then save the image URL to the Company Info record.
Info
The Company Logo field accepts a URL only. The URL must be publicly accessible (no Salesforce login required). If the URL exceeds 255 characters, it must be shortened before saving.
Step 1: Upload Your Logo to Salesforce Files
Upload your logo to Salesforce Files so it can be referenced by the Company Info record.
Step | Action |
|---|---|
1 | Open the App Launcher and search for Files. |
2 | Click Upload Files. |
3 | Select your company logo from your computer. PNG or JPG is recommended. |
4 | Wait for the upload to complete. |
Expected Result
Your logo is now available in Salesforce Files.
Step 2: Create a Public Link
Create a public link so the image can be viewed outside of Salesforce.
Step | Action |
|---|---|
1 | Open the uploaded image. |
2 | Click Public Link (or Share, depending on your Salesforce version). |
3 | Select Create Public Link. |
4 | Make sure no password or expiration date is set. |
5 | Copy the generated Public Link. |
Expected Result
You now have a public URL that can be accessed without logging into Salesforce.
Step 3: Copy the Direct Image URL
The Public Link points to a preview page, not the image itself. You'll need to copy the image's direct URL.
Important
Do not copy the browser URL from the preview page. You must copy the Image Address.
Step | Action |
|---|---|
1 | Open an Incognito or Private Browsing window. |
2 | Paste the Public Link into the address bar and press Enter. |
3 | Right-click the image and select Copy Image Address (Chrome) or Copy Image Link (Firefox/Edge). |
4 | Paste the copied URL into a new browser tab to verify it opens only the image. |
Expected Result
The URL opens the logo image directly without requiring a Salesforce login.
Step 4: Shorten the URL (If Needed)
Salesforce URL fields have a maximum length of 255 characters.
Info
Before continuing, check the length of your direct image URL.
If the URL is 255 characters or fewer, continue to Step 5.
If the URL exceeds 255 characters, follow the steps below.
Step | Action |
|---|---|
1 | Open a URL shortening service such as Bitly. |
2 | Paste the direct image URL into the URL shortener. |
3 | Click Shorten or Create. |
4 | Copy the shortened URL. |
5 | Open the shortened URL in an Incognito window to verify it loads the logo image correctly. |
Expected Result
You now have a shortened URL that can be saved in Salesforce.
Step 5: Update the Company Info Custom Setting
Save the logo URL to the Company Info record.
Step | Action |
|---|---|
1 | Click the Gear icon and select Setup. |
2 | Search for Custom Settings in the Quick Find box. |
3 | Select Custom Settings. |
4 | Locate Company Info and click Manage. |
5 | If a record already exists, click Edit. Otherwise, click New. |
6 | Complete or update your company information as needed. |
7 | Paste the image URL into the Company Logo field. |
8 | Click Save. |
Expected Result
The Company Logo URL has been saved and is ready to be used in Classic Email Templates.
Verify the Update
Send a test email using a Classic Email Template that contains the Company Logo merge field.
Confirm that:
The company logo appears in the email.
The image is visible to recipients who are not logged into Salesforce.
No broken image icon is displayed.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Resolution |
|---|---|
The logo displays as a broken image. | Verify that you copied the Image Address, not the Public Link or browser URL. |
The URL is too long to save. | Shorten the URL using Bitly before saving it to the Company Logo field. |
The image does not appear in the email template. | Verify the Company Info record has been saved and that the Company Logo field contains the correct URL. |
The image loads in Salesforce but not for recipients. | Confirm the image URL opens successfully in an Incognito or Private Browsing window. |
The logo appears too large. | Resize the image before uploading it to Salesforce and repeat the process. |
