Cadences FAQs

Which phone fields do SMS Cadences work with?

  1. Leads - Mobile

  2. Contacts - Mobile

  3. Opportunities - Mobile

  4. Transactions - Mobile Phone (via Person Account)

Cadences work fine for me, but one of my new team members is having issues. What could be wrong?

Permission Sets. The Left Main Cadences Permission set must be applied to any user who should have access to Cadences. Alternatively, the “Phone” and/or “Mobile” fields in the user’s record are empty.

How do I avoid sending messages via Cadences after hours?

Cadence Timing and Restrictions

  • For Email: delivered from 8:30am to 9pm every hour

  • For SMS: delivered from 8am to 9pm every 10 minutes at the top of 10 minute increments (i.e. SMS can be delivered at 8:30am, 8:40am, 8:50am, etc.)

    • If there’s an automated after hours trigger via Flows, the initial SMS cadence scheduled for "now" will send outside business hours. The SMS cadences that follow in the sequence will all respect business hours.

  • For Tasks: applied from 9am to 9pm every hour

Are there out-of-the-box automations running in the background related to Cadences?

Yes.

  • When a cadence is stopped, the "has cadence" checkbox is automatically unchecked

  • If a new cadence is added, the "stop cadence" checkbox on PREVIOUS cadence is automatically checked

  • When all scheduled cadences equal complete, the "stop cadence" checkbox is automatically checked and the "has cadence" checkbox is unchecked

  • If the last active cadence is deleted, all scheduled tasks, emails and SMS are set to COMPLETED and the "has cadence" checkbox is unchecked

Cadences Best Practices

  • Verify First. Test any templates and/or Flows you plan to use on yourself and a colleague or family member.

  • Automate Slowly. Ensure your team is sufficiently comfortable working within your org before creating additional custom Flows to automate Cadences

  • Use a No Lead Left Behind Strategy. At your next quarterly or annual business planning meeting, map out a strategy to maximize touchpoints using email, SMS, task and Direct Mail Cadences.

  • Standardize Naming Conventions. No matter where you’re starting, consistent naming conventions only become more important as your team or business grows.

Cadences Future Improvements

  • [Resolved in January 2025 release] Bulk Add Cadence Buttons. Currently, clicking this button multiple times can incorrectly create multiple cadences on a single record. Customers are advised to click only once and wait for the page to refresh at this time.

  • SMS Templates. When creating a new SMS Cadence template, customers currently need to save a second time to associate the template with a particular object.

  • Merge Fields for SMS Templates. Currently, only fields available in the merge field dropdown when creating a new SMS template operate with Cadences. Using merge fields available on the object that aren’t in the dropdown prevents the SMS from going out.
